ECCF Vision

A well informed citizenry that is able to actively participate in democratic processes through access to credible local independent media.

ECCF Mission

ECCF seeks to strengthen local independent media to enable effective communication of key development issues with communities in the province.

Goals & Objectives

To strengthen and professionalise the local independent media sector

To assist in building local independent media that is inspiring and creates active citizenship that can hold local government accountable.

To capacitate civil society organisation (CSO) and other stakeholders in communication and media liaison skills.

Who We Are

The ECCF is a non-profit organisation that works with local independent media in the Eastern Cape. There are about 40 independent publications from weekly to monthly and about 20 licensed newspapers from the Eastern Cape.

The ECCF acknowledges the role that community media plays in our communities and understands the challenges the sector faces. Through its capacity building interventions it is able to provide support to strengthen the sector. View more >
