Meet the ECCF Team:

Bongi Bozo (full time) – Coordinator

Bongi is a graduate of Rhodes University on Social Sciences with journalism as minor and a Postgraduate in media management. As a former radio producer and presenter in a community station in Grahamstown, she knows the challenges of local independent media in the Eastern Cape. She has worked with community media and has a precise understanding of the sector. Email: eccf@wsu.ac.za

 

Aniela Batschari (Part time) – Advisor

Aniela is a Lecturer in Media Studies who works with the organisation as part of the community engagement of Walter Sisulu University (WSU). She has been working with the organisation for the past 5 years. She has a Masters Degree in Communication Studies from the Freie University Berlin in Germany. The advisor has more than 15 years of experience in development work and the media sector. Email: abatschari@wsu.ac.za

Lisa Hiemer (full time) - Technical Advisor

Lisa joined the ECCF in November 2011 and is seconded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft f ür Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) as a Junior Advisor. She holds a Masters Degree in Politics and Communication from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She has previous working experience in the field of media development and support to civil society organisations. Email: eccf1@wsu.ac.za

Student Volunteers – Journalism students assist the organisation between two to five hours a week with administration, project work, maintenance of the resource centre and the community newspaper library. As journalism students they understand the sector.
