The ECCF is based at the Department of Media Studies at Walter Sisulu University (WSU). It is housed in the Media Hub. The Media Hub comprises of five offices, a training venue, a board room and a resource centre including a unique library of independent publications in the Eastern Cape. The partnership between ECCF and WSU is based on a Memorandum of Understanding. As part of its community engagement responsibilities, WSU covers running costs such as rent, electricity, water and the internet. In general, WSU supports the ongoing development, operation and sustainability of the ECCF. Both institutions develop cooperative and collaborative activities aiming at promoting the common interest of improving communication between small local media, civil society organisations and local government and the development of local media in particular.
